After agreement last year by councillors at the City of Dunfermline Area Committee, work has now started in reducing the speed limit on Lapwing Drive to 30mph. This has taken place after a motion on the issue was originally put forward by Liberal Democrat Councillor for Dunfermline South James Calder.

James Calder said,

I am pleased that this speed limit reduction is now finally taking place.

This has been raised to me by both parents and local residents alike and will reduce the impact of noise as well as making it safer for pupils crossing the road.

This includes pupils at the bottom end of the road who have needed to cross at an area without a proper crossing in order to reach their school bus.

I know that many have been looking forward to this work and I am sure it will have a positive impact for the local area.
