After 16 residents objected to cycle lane proposals on the western side of Aberdour Road in Dunfermline, Councillors on the City of Dunfermline Area Committee after to defer a decision for more community consultation and consideration of further options. Liberal Democrat Councillor for Dunfermline South James Calder spoke in favour of the deferral.

Councillor Calder said,

While it is important we support better infrastructure to encourage safe cycling, it is important we do this with the support of our communities.

It was clear there was significant local opposition from residents on Aberdour Road to current proposals, and I am glad that other councillors agreed with me that we need to take more time.

This will allow us to work with residents to find a solution to this project that will be acceptable to all.
