James Calder, Liberal Democrat Councillor for Dunfermline South, has had a number of residents get in touch due to the failure of Kier to properly reinstate sections of pavement and grass verges along Aberdour Road. This took place after they were recently doing works for Openreach. He has inspected the area with local resident Archie Frail.
Example of the problems include:
Councillor James Calder has said,
Residents are rightly expect that when work is done by utility companies, that the area is left in the same condition as they found it.
I have taken a look alongside a local resident and months after the work was done on Aberdour Road, one of the main routes in Dunfermline, the area is still a mess.
I have raised this with Council staff who I believe have been in touch with Kier, but I am calling on both Kier and Openreach to get on with it and fix this section of road.
It is an eyesore but also in some areas a safety hazard and it is unfair for the residents who live in the area.
Local resident Archie Frail, who showed Councillor Calder around the area, added,
Leave a commentAs a long-standing resident in the local area I have over the years have been concerned over the way utility companies and other contractors are reinstating the Council owned ground back to normal. The latest we have a Company called Kier who have installed plastic conduit on behalf of BT and have left the area like a bomb site.
I feel that the Council have a duty to make sure that these contractors are held responsible for the work that they do.
Aberdour Road is one of the main arteries into Dunfermline City and this type of behaviour is unacceptable.
