Fife Bin Collection Crisis Continues

by jamescalder on 23 May, 2022

After another week of disruption in which nearly 10,000 bins across Fife were not collected on time, including 1000 grey bins in Dunfermline, Dunfermline’s Liberal Democrat Councillors Aude Boubaker-Calder and James Calder have called for a plan of action from the new Labour Administration to resolve this issue.

Councillor James Calder has said,

Two weeks in a row of severe bin disruptions is not good enough for Fife residents. We need to be encouraging recycling and responsible bin use and this is doing the opposite.

I also worry that this might end up causing more flytipping across Fife and we need to ensure that does not happen.

I am keen to work with the new Labour Administration to find solutions to this crisis. I know they will be keen to deal with this issue to and I will support any effort that resolves this.

Councillor Aude Boubaker-Calder added,

I have had a number of furious residents get in touch over the past couple of weeks and they are right to be angry.

Some have been told for example that their green bins will now not be collected until the next scheduled collection. That is not an acceptable solution to this issue.

It needs to be a priority for the new Administration to sort this out quickly and I will support any effort to deal with this.
