Working hard for Dunfermline South all year round Learn more

Recently a planning application was approved by Fife Council officers for a mobile phone mast at St Andrews Street in Dunfermline, despite a significant number of objections from local residents. Local Liberal Democrat Councillor James Calder is concerned about this decision and has written to the developer.*
James Calder has said,
Mobile phone infrastructure is important, but I feel there are plenty of more appropriate places to site a mast rather than right next to people’s homes.
As a result of this, I have written to the developer to ask them to consider using one of many other nearby locations for this mast. I have offered to speak to them about potential locations.
I hope they take me up on this so we can find somewhere that is not right outside someone’s home.
*Letter going to developers below:
Dear Sir/ Madam,
I am writing as a councillor in Dunfermline South. In St Andrews Street in Dunfermline, you have recently had planning permission granted for a mobile phone mast in the street.
There are a large number of residential houses there and many of the residents are understandably not happy about having a mast just outside their house.
I am asking for you to consider using another location in the area to build the mast without houses nearby. I would be happy to discuss potential locations with yourselves.
Thank you for your consideration of this matter and I look forward to hearing back from you.
Best Regards
James Calder
Scottish Liberal Democrat Councillor for Dunfermline South
