Tryst Centre 50th Birthday

by jamescalder on 1 February, 2018

Last night I was delighted to come along to the Tryst Centre’s 50th Birthday celebrations. The centre, which began as a place for the young people of Abbeyview and is now a place for the entire community, has served a number of generations and you could tell the gratitude felt by all who were there. It was great to see many generations attending and such a large attendance too.

At the event we got to hear poetry, memories and even got treated to a superbly made video with interviews of those involved. The Provost, Jim Leishman was also there and shared some of his memories of the Tryst Centre, particularly from his footballing days.

After the presentation there was the chance to mingle. It was nice to hear some people’s stories of the centre as well as the future. As you may imagine, with there now being consultation taken on the future of community centre provision in Abbeyview, there was a firm belief that the Tryst Centre must carry on being a feature of Abbeyview and this is something I would happily agree with.
