Figures provided by Independent Age estimates that £1,505,362 in Pension Credit goes unclaimed annually, by 709 people, in the Dunfermline Scottish Parliament Constituency. Liberal Democrat Councillor James Calder has urged pensioners to check their eligibility after the recent decision by the UK Government to limit access to the Winter Fuel Payment to pensioners on Pension Credit.

James Calder said,

Estimates suggest 709 people in Dunfermline are not claiming Pension Credit despite being entitled too. With the removal of the Winter Fuel Payment potentially having a major impact on their lives, I would urge many to check to see if they are eligible. This is really important to help ensure that pensioners on low incomes avoid facing a winter struggling to pay the bills.
