On the weekend of the 18th and 19th August we had the treat of 2 family friendly events in Dunfermline South. On Saturday we had the South Dunfermline Gala in the grounds of Pitreavie Primary School and on the Sunday the Abbeyview Festival took place in Abbeyview Park, and I had the pleasure of attending both.

The South Dunfermline Gala was an action packed day – the gymnasts on horses were very impressive – doing feats that most of us could not do on the ground, let alone on a wet day on horses! There were plenty of stalls from community organisations there and it was great to see the children enjoying the rides. I also got the opportunity to pick out the raffle prizes, which I fortunately managed to avoid selecting my name!

On Sunday I attended the Abbeyview Festival. I had the honour of being asked by members of the community council to open up the festival at the start of the day. Once again there were plenty of great stalls, and the children also got to enjoy wrestling, rides and live music. Overall another great event!

Despite the drizzly weather, I was pleased to see it did not dampen anyones spirits. A great way to finish the Summer and I look forward to next year’s events.
