James Calder has just been re-elected as the Liberal Democrat Councillor for Dunfermline South, topping the poll with 1523 first preference votes. He has shown that working on the local issues and being approachable won the hearts of the Dunfermline South residents.

He said

Over the past five years, I have enjoyed putting the local community here first and being there for local constituents. I appreciate all the support I have received in this election and it has meant a lot to me.

Time and time again on the doorstep, residents have told me they want a Council which will take more care about local issues in Dunfermline, and with both Aude and myself putting local issues first, I genuinely believe that this is the cause of the simply astounding results we have got in Dunfermline.

I’m also delighted at the Liberal Democrat growth across Fife, almost doubling our councillors. As our deputy leader, I look forward to ensuring that more decisions in Fife as a whole are made with the interests of our diverse communities in mind.

In the meantime, I will work hard to ensure the trust put into me by residents across Dunfermline South is repaid. We need better road repairs, local green spaces such as around the Calais Woods being protected and ensuring the new school campus is built correctly. I will keep up the pressure on these and many other issues.
