At a meeting of Fife Council, Liberal Democrat Councillor for Dunfermline South James Calder raised a motion to set up a policy on H-bar white line markings on roads in Fife. The motion was rejected by the Labour and SNP policy who elected to push forward an amendment that focussed on Scottish Government pavement restrictions.
Councillor James Calder has said,
Leave a commentMany residents get in touch with me about either getting white lines parked outside their driveways or getting them repainted. It is a significant issue outside schools.
Currently there is no Council policy to guide our staff, and as such as many people are left disappointed if these lines aren’t painted, which is why I raised this at the Council.
The SNP and Labour appeared to want to shut down the debate and this is very disappointing. There appeared to be a belief amongst them that this shouldn’t be debated at Council and I am furious at this attitude.
I do hope they will think again so we can ensure that Fife residents know whether they can or cannot get these white lines painted outside their driveways.
