The upcoming proposed savings for the upcoming Fife Council budget contains a proposal to cut 29 full time equivalent posts for Pupil Support Assistants. Fife Liberal Democrat Education Spokesperson Councillor James Calder has expressed concerns over the impact this could potentially have.
Cllr. Calder has said,
Leave a commentI am really worried about the impact on children’s education that this proposed cut to reduce Pupil Support Assistants would have. With the sharp increase in classroom sizes over the past few years, teachers need as much support as possible. This would have the opposite effect.
I would implore the SNP and Labour Council Administration to reject this proposal. It would be ultimately damaging to our children’s education and would also potentially increase stress levels amongst our already demoralised teacher workforce.
