At yesterday’s Education and Children’s Services Committee catchment changes have finally been made for the schools of Dunfermline and West Fife. I was delighted there was unanimous approval for what I believe were sensible proposals.

The agreement made included ensuring all pupils in Dunfermline, including those from Masterton Primary, got to go to school in Dunfermline. They also ensure that pupils from a single primary school would all go to the same High School, which was of course a great benefit for the pupils of Canmore and Pitreavie Primary Schools which were before split between Dunfermline and Woodmill High School catchments.

This will now ensure in the future we do not have a similar situation as last year where pupils did not know which school they would go to until the end of the year. However the Council and Scottish Government must ensure funding is put in place for new schools for Woodmill, St Columba’s and Inverkeithing.
