The Out of Hours GP service proposed changes have now gone to consultation. Three options are being provided- one to maintain the status quo, one to centralise all services to Kirkcaldy and one to keep services in Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy. I have responded to the consultation and made clear my support to keep services in Dunfermline.
I have written:
It is necessary for many of my constituents as a Dunfermline Councillor that the Out of Hours GP service is fully maintained in Dunfermline. Dunfermline has lost many services due to centralisation when it comes to the NHS and this would be disastrous for many.
For elderly, disabled or vulnerable patients this will make it more difficult to access out of hours GP services and could be dangerous.
Dunfermline’s population is increasing significantly and it also makes sense to keep the services locally.
I would urge everyone who wants to keep this service in Dunfermline to make their voices heard by making a response to the consultation at this link.Leave a comment
