After the recent fire at a recycling facility in Abbeyview, Dunfermline, Liberal Democrat Dunfermline South Councillor James Calder has issued a plea for people to respect these facilities.

Cllr. Calder has said, “It is sad that a minority of individuals abuse our community recycling facilities. There was a recent fire in Abbeyview that forced the Council to remove the burnt out recycling bins. On top of this we have seen people flytipping at our recycling sites and this is completely not on.”

“I would urge this minority to not ruin things for the majority who make use of these facilities for their recycling. Fife Council are currently reviewing the recycling facilities and there is a risk that they could be removed from areas suffering from flytipping and vandalism. I am asking anyone with information about offenders to report them to help ensure that we don’t lose any of these sites.”
